What is this all about?

Well obviously this is about chicken, fried chicken. There are many forms of fried chicken. Our favorite is what we like to call naked fried chicken, chicken with very little breading and good crispy skin. Our favorite piece of chicken is the thigh, that's just us.

We would love to hear from you! Post a comment or send us a note and let us know your favorite.

Price's Chicken Coop - Grandaddy of Charlotte Fried Chicken

Price's Chicken Coop 1614 Camden Road -
No place to sit, no deliveries, no checks, no credit cards, prices subject to change without notice and none of that matters. The line is wrapped around the building as soon as they open at 10:00 am. It's naked fried with great flavor, crispy skin and never too greasy. Dinners come with coleslaw, tater rounds, hushpuppies & a roll but be warned the chicken in the "sandwiches" is on the bone in the bun. The Chicken Coop is also one of the few places with gizzards on the menu.
But it's not just that it's some of the very best chicken around, it's a major part of Charlotte history and personal history for me. It's the Fourth of July Picnic at the neighborhood pool my grandparent's managed when I was a kid, It's the Christmas parties when I worked at Presby in my twenties and it's how a group of us at work treat ourselves when we can talk someone into picking it up.
Price's Chicken Coop is at the top of our list for both it's flavor and authentic Charlotte Nostalgia -Noelle
