What is this all about?

Well obviously this is about chicken, fried chicken. There are many forms of fried chicken. Our favorite is what we like to call naked fried chicken, chicken with very little breading and good crispy skin. Our favorite piece of chicken is the thigh, that's just us.

We would love to hear from you! Post a comment or send us a note and let us know your favorite.

Guest Reviewer David Meiers-Simmons Soul Food

Simmons Soul Food 516 N Graham Street

With the exception of the very occasional trip to Prices Chicken Coop, the only place in town I regularly get Fried Chicken - and without question the best place in town to get Fried Chicken - is Simmons on Graham Street near downtown. I am a regular at Simmons, and although they have a varied menu, I don't need to look at it anymore. "Fried Chicken all White Meat, an order of Greens, an order of Macaroni and Cheese, a Sweet Tea and some Cornbread" is my regular order. Besides having the best Fried Chicken, they also have the best Greens, Macaroni and Cheese, and Cornbread (if you don't mind crumbly cornbread that you need to eat with a fork!). They only offer tea, water or lemonade to drink, though, and the tea is only ok (not great). Mrs Simmons sits at the table in the back and is only called into the kitchen when it is time to season something or provide other oversight. Her son "T" works the crowd with jokes and banter and other family members and relatives work there, too. Simmons has the best Soul Food in town!
